JV White

Lose to Humble 14-8

Last night, the Maverick JV White football team experienced a disappointing loss vs Humble.

Although the scoreboard did not prove it, the Mavericks improved tremendously and dominated the majority of the game.

Both teams were scoreless in the 1st quarter, but Memorial would strike first by pinning Humble in their own end zone for a 2nd quarter safety by Dedrick Hudgen.  Humble would answer with a second quarter Defensive touchdown after a stripped ball, but the Mavericks held strong denying the 2 point conversion.

The third quarter brought more grief to the Mavericks as Humble picked up another defensive score after an interception.  The 2 point conversion was good, making the score 14-2.

Humble was never able to stop the Memorial offense. However, a series of fumbles would plague the offense, keeping them from capitalizing on their drives.  Memorial’s offense would come alive in the 4th, putting together a drive that ended with a Rashad Collier touchdown. Michael Martinez put the ball through the uprights to make the the score 14-9.

Memorial’s final drive for a possible win was stopped, and Humble’s offense took a knee the last few plays, allowing time to expire.

Getting stronger defensively and aggressive offensively, the Mavericks continue to improve and work hard. Go Mavs!
