The Mavs dropped a 34-6 decision to the Humble JV Wednesday night at Veterans stadium. Jesus Martinez had a long touchdown run for the Mavs. Davian Tollentino lead the defense.
Lose to Humble 14-8
Last night, the Maverick JV White football team experienced a disappointing loss vs Humble.
Although the scoreboard did not prove it, the Mavericks improved tremendously and dominated the majority of the game.
Both teams were scoreless in the 1st quarter, but Memorial would strike first by pinning Humble in their own end zone for a 2nd quarter safety by Dedrick Hudgen. Humble would answer with a second quarter Defensive touchdown after a stripped ball, but the Mavericks held strong denying the 2 point conversion.
The third quarter brought more grief to the Mavericks as Humble picked up another defensive score after an interception. The 2 point conversion was good, making the score 14-2.
Humble was never able to stop the Memorial offense. However, a series of fumbles would plague the offense, keeping them from capitalizing on their drives. Memorial’s offense would come alive in the 4th, putting together a drive that ended with a Rashad Collier touchdown. Michael Martinez put the ball through the uprights to make the the score 14-9.
Memorial’s final drive for a possible win was stopped, and Humble’s offense took a knee the last few plays, allowing time to expire.
Getting stronger defensively and aggressive offensively, the Mavericks continue to improve and work hard. Go Mavs!
Mavs 8 Humble 20
The Memorial Maverick dark freshmen football team played the Humble Wildcats at Turner stadium and were defeated 20 to 8. The Mavs fought hard all game but came up short. The lone Maverick touchdown was scored by Jayden Balderas as he scampered in from 35 yards on a fullback dive. The defensive players of the game for the Mavs were Noah Finkledei, CJ Tucker, and Donovan Lomas.
Mavs 30 Humble 8
Pasadena Memorial’s freshman white team ventured north to face Humble this week and came away with a resounding 30-8 victory. The Mav’s came out early scoring on their first drive and built a 14-8 halftime lead. The second half was dominated by the Mav’s as they cruised for their second consecutive victory. The Mav’s offense came alive against Humble while the Mav’s defense continued to shut down their opponent. Numerous Mav’s stepped up against Humble and truly exemplified the term “team effort”.
