Congratulations to the Pasadena Memorial JV black football team for defeating the Sam Rayburn Texans by the score of 39 to 20. The Mavericks played with great energy and effort all night long as they knew yesterday was their last game of the season. Darrius Carr helped create that energy by taking the opening kickoff 65 yards and was forced out of bounds on the Sam Rayburn 1 yard line. Two plays later Xavier Garcia punched it in scoring his first of 3 TD’s. Offensively the Mavs were led by junior Roger Orellana. Roger threw 3 TD passes for 325 yards and zero interceptions. Other notable receivers were Abel Aguirre, Kadarius Holden, Bradford Husband.
Defensively were led by LB Josh Mendoza, Keon Williams, Rye Williamson, Angel Sanchez, and Ayden Blackmon.
Special teams performers: Tristan Jones 1 TD (165 yards), Jaime Canstaneda 2 Extra points
Offensive line: Sergio Huerta, Adrian Villarreal, Jacob Perry, Josh Vaglienty, Joshua Huynh

Last night to close out the 2020 football season the #16 ranked Pasadena Memorial Mavericks defeated an always tenacious Sam Rayburn Texans 14-8. The Mavericks struck first on the opening kickoff with Adrian Lerma scoring on a 65-yard return. Carlos Amaya converted the extra point.
Leading the offense, Joaquín Fernandez maneuvered the Mavericks down the field scoring on a 15-yard run. Phillip Hernandez ran hard through the defenders with Jaelyn Nowlin and Ethan Munoz making crucial catches to stun the opposition. Helping to control the line of scrimmage was Rogelio Falcon, Ruben Pecina and Alejandro Mateos.
The Maverick Defense was led by Able Garcia while Andrew Tavu had a pair of turnovers to stymie the Texans. Jaiden Longoria, Isaac Torres, Landon Perez, and Christian Betts anchored the Defensive Line.
Offensive Coordinator Terry Garza said “I am extremely proud of our guys for finishing the season strong. They came to play and tonight they did. I can’t wait to see what the upcoming years hold for this group of young men.”
This closes out the Freshman season with an A team record of 6-4 and B team 8-2. Congratulations!
